To : All of the Clem Jones Centre Family

Hi All,

Just a quick update for all of our members and patrons on activities at the Centre since our last communication on 18 June.

On Tuesday 30 June, the Premier announced Stage 3 easing of restrictions. While the main focus was around re-opening of borders, there was further good news for patron numbers at the Centre.

Terry Mackenroth Community Gymnasium

We are still awaiting Fitness Australia’s update to the industry’s COVID Safe Plan however, in summary, patron numbers can now be expanded to one person per 4m2 of floor space although social distancing of 1.5m remains in place. The effect on us is that we can dramatically expand patron numbers in each area of our gym and group fitness classes and remove the ticketing system that has been in place during Stage 2. This change will be implemented from the opening of business on Saturday 4 July.

For contact tracing, patrons will still be required to complete the “Activity Acknowledgement” each time they visit the gym however temperature checking will be withdrawn. Hopefully, the updated industry COVID Safe Plan will allow for lockers, change rooms and showers to be used again however at this stage they remain closed.

The Centre will retain its active management of hygiene, sanitisation and cleaning practices and we also ask clients to continue the good work in cleaning equipment prior to and after use.

All members should have had their memberships extended by three months at no cost and if this is not the case, feel free to contact the gym reception staff.

We still have not received advice from Fitness Passport as to when they intend reactivating passport memberships.

Trading hours for the Gymnasium remain unchanged as follows ;

Monday to Friday – 5.00am – 9.00pm

Saturday 5.00am – 6.00pm

Sunday – 8.00am – 6.00pm

Kids Club

 Our Kids Club formally reopened on Monday 22 June with a number of changes implemented to help manage the health and safety of our clients and staff and I am pleased to say that the new processes are working well.

New session times remain as follows ;

Monday to Friday

Session 1 – 9.00am – 10.30am

Session 2 – 10.45am – 12.15pm

Aquatic Centre

Again, we are still awaiting updates from Swim Australia in relation to the COVID Safe Plan for the aquatic industry however we are able to accommodate ample patrons in the 50m pool with lane space readily available during all opening hours.

The outdoor 25m pool will remain closed for the remainder of the winter season primarily to save heating costs and we anticipate opening this pool on Saturday 22 August.

Again, showers and change rooms remain closed until we receive advice from Swim Australia to the contrary.

Our reduced trading hours will remain in place in the short term as follows ;

Monday to Friday – 5.00am – 6.00pm

Saturday – 5am – 12.00pm

Sunday – 8.00am – 12.00pm

Indoor Pool

We remain on track to reopen the Indoor Pool on Monday 13 July for both our Learn to Swim children and hydrotherapy activities.

From the time of closure, it will be some 14 weeks that our Indoor Pool has been in hibernation and we will extend all pool memberships accordingly free of charge.

While we will have a restriction on the number of patrons in the pool at any one time, we are hopeful the updated Swim Australia COVID Safe Plan will further ease these limitations.

For hydrotherapy clients, entry will be via our main aquatics entry on Zahel Street from 6am until 8am daily. Thereafter patrons can enter via the back door of the indoor pool from 8am until 2pm daily and report to Reception prior to entering the pool.

For Learn to Swim clients, we would encourage you to enter via the back door of the indoor pool and report to Reception. Parents will be encouraged to wait in the outdoor pool area during their children’s lesson to avoid over-crowding internally.

Aqua Aerobics

 It will be great to welcome back our Aqua Aerobics groups on Monday 13 July. There will be some minor changes to the Aqua timetable which Giselle will release over the next couple of days.

As with all other memberships, our Aqua memberships will be extended free of charge by 14 weeks being the period of time we were closed.

 Our canteen facility will reopen on Monday 13 July with limited seating capacity and social distancing while waiting for takeaway orders.  Trading hours for the canteen will be ;

Monday to Friday – 7am – 5pm

Saturday – 7am – 12pm

Sunday – 8am – 12pm

 Feel free to talk to our Head Swim Coach, Brian Glass on 0433427589 for more information on the Swim Squad program or the President of our Triathlon program, Leanne McGregor on 0403069576 in relation to the Triathlon program.

I would like to take the opportunity to welcome everyone back to the Centre and again thank all of our clients and staff for their cooperation and patience.
