COVID – 19 Update

We are pleased to announce that we anticipate the Clem Jones Centre Swim School re-opening for the commencement of Term 3 on 13 July 2020.

At this stage and as part of Stage 3 of the Queensland Government’s Roadmap, the Clem Jones Centre Swim School will be able to operate under these Stage 3 Easing of Restrictions. (

What Does This Mean?

  • It is anticipated we will be able to have 100 people in the Clem Jones Centre Swim School at any one time.
  • Physical distancing rules of 1.5m will apply.
  • 4 square metres per person when indoors will apply.

At the Clem Jones Centre Swim School, in order to provide a safe environment for our families and staff:

  • We will continue to provide the highest level of environmental cleaning and sanitation.
  • We are following all protocols from Queensland Health.
  • None of our staff have returned from overseas or been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 infection in the last 2 months.
  • We kindly ask you to use our hand sanitiser as you enter and exit the building.
  • The swim school has been reorganised to facilitate social distancing by removing seating and implementing 1.5 metre restrictions inside the swim school at all times. We highly recommend staying outside of the swim school to avoid exceeding restrictions on social distancing.
  • We will be limiting the number of classes provided on any given day to avoid exceeding social distancing regulations. We may also reduce some class sizes.
  • Sea Urchins will require a parent in the water to reduce hands on teaching method at this level.
  • We ask that ONLY 1 PARENT from each family attend swimming lessons.
  • We are still working on entry and exit strategies to ensure social distancing.
  • We ask you to follow any directional signage inside the swim school.
  • Please pick up your child/children in a timely manner and exit the Swim School via the back door.
  • We are still awaiting clarity if change rooms and shower facilities will be permitted.

There are some simple things that we can do to help prevent infection from spreading within the community:

  • Practice good hand hygiene by washing your hands regularly and/or using hand sanitiser.
  • Cough or sneeze into your elbow as opposed to your hands.
  • Heed all the advice from the relevant authorities regarding nonessential travel and mass gatherings.
  • Avoid close contact with anyone who is showing symptoms of a respiratory illness.

if you or your child/children are unwell we would encourage you to postpone your lesson with us and seek medical advice. Please contact our Learn to Swim reception on 3324 9391 and our staff will be happy to re arrange a make up lesson once your child/children are feeling well again.

Please be patient with us as we try to navigate our swim school around these new restrictions in order to keep our community safe.

We are so excited to start our Learn to Swim program again. We cannot wait to see your smiling faces back at the Clem Jones Centre Swim School for Term 3 and beyond.

If you do not wish to return in Term 3 which commences on Monday 13th July please email us on or call us on 3324 9391.

Kind Regards

Nerida, Craig, Danielle, and the staff at the Clem Jones Centre Swim School.
