Conditions of Entry
At Clem Jones Centre, we are committed to providing a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for all visitors. By entering the Centre, patrons agree to comply with these Conditions of Entry, all Centre signage, supervision requirements and directions provided by staff.
Management reserves the right to refuse entry or remove any person not complying with these Conditions of Entry.
General Centre Behaviour
- Patrons must behave respectfully towards staff, contractors and other visitors at all times.
- Abusive, disruptive, threatening or anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated.
- Patrons must follow all staff directions, safety signage and emergency procedures.
- In an emergency, patrons must follow directions from Centre staff immediately.
- Patrons must not obstruct entrances, exits or the movement of other patrons within the Centre.
- If unwell or displaying symptoms of illness, attendance at the Centre is not permitted.
- CCTV surveillance operates throughout the Centre for safety and security purposes.
Aquatic Centre Conditions
Supervision & Age Restrictions
Children aged 14 years and under must be accompanied and actively supervised by a responsible adult aged 18 years and over at all times.
The Centre follows Royal Life Saving Society “Keep Watch” supervision guidelines:
Children 0–5 years and Non-Swimmers
- A parent or guardian must be in the water at all times.
- Children and non-swimmers must remain within arm’s reach.
Children 6–10 years
- Constant active supervision is required.
- Parents or guardians must be prepared to enter the water if required.
Children 11–14 years
- Parents or guardians must remain within the Centre and physically check on children regularly.
Aquatic Safety Rules
The following activities are prohibited unless authorised by Centre Management:
- Running around pool areas
- Diving into pools
- Bomb dives, flips, somersaults or acrobatic entries
- Throwing games or use of balls
- Use of boogie boards or large flotation devices
- Dangerous or reckless behaviour
Patrons must obey all lifeguard instructions and aquatic safety signage at all times.
Photography & Recording
- Photography or filming is prohibited unless authorised by Centre Management.
- Cameras, mobile phones and recording devices must not be used in change rooms or amenities.
- The Centre reserves the right to direct patrons to stop filming or photography at any time.
Aquatic Facility Restrictions
The following are prohibited within the Aquatic Centre:
- Smoking or vaping within the facility or within 10 metres of entrances
- Alcohol
- Glass bottles or containers
- Commercial food deliveries
- Weapons, dangerous items or illicit substances
- Scooters or bikes
- Pets or animals unless authorised assistance animals
Swimwear & Attire
- Clean and appropriate swimwear must be worn at all times.
- Underwear is not permitted as swimwear.
- Revealing or inappropriate swimwear may be refused at Management discretion.
- Patrons must use change rooms when changing into or out of swimwear.
Gym Conditions & Etiquette
To ensure a safe and hygienic environment for all members and guests, the following rules apply within all gym and fitness areas.
Hygiene & Cleanliness
- Hand sanitiser should be used upon entry and exit.
- All equipment and surfaces must be wiped down before and after use.
- This includes benches, machines, barbells, dumbbells and weight plates.
- A towel is compulsory while training.
- Patrons are encouraged to bring a personal water bottle.
Gym Usage Rules
- Children under 14 years are not permitted in the gym unless participating in a designated supervised class.
- Shirts and enclosed shoes must be worn at all times.
- Work boots are not permitted.
- Equipment must be returned after use, including dumbbells and weight plates.
- Patrons must not reserve or monopolise equipment.
- Dropping weights is prohibited.
- Equipment faults or hazards must be reported to staff immediately.
- Food and hot drinks are not permitted within gym areas.
Group Fitness Classes
- Patrons should arrive on time for classes.
- Doors may be locked once classes commence.
- Mobile phones must be placed on silent during classes.
- Bathrooms and amenities should be left clean and tidy after use.
Filming & Mobile Phones
- The gym is a camera-free zone.
- Filming or photography requires prior approval from Centre Management.
- Staff reserve the right to request filming cease at any time.
Safety, Liability & Personal Property
- Patrons enter and use the Centre at their own risk.
- The Centre accepts no responsibility for loss, theft or damage to personal property.
- Management may inspect bags and coolers to ensure compliance with Centre rules.
- Patrons are responsible for the behaviour and supervision of minors under their care.
- Patrons indemnify the Centre against loss, damage or claims arising from their use of the facilities.
Right to Refuse Entry
Centre Management reserves the right to:
- Refuse entry
- Remove patrons from the Centre
- Suspend memberships or access privileges
This applies where behaviour is unsafe, inappropriate, abusive or in breach of these Conditions of Entry.
