Build Confidence Through Swimming

Learning to swim is about more than developing a new skill—it is about building confidence, improving water safety awareness, developing physical fitness, and creating a strong foundation for a lifetime of enjoyment in and around the water. At the Clem Jones Centre, our swimming programs provide opportunities for children, teenagers, adults, and families to develop their aquatic skills in a welcoming, supportive, and encouraging environment.

Whether you are introducing a young child to the water for the first time, helping your child become a confident swimmer, improving your own technique, or preparing for competitive swimming, our range of swimming programs is designed to support you at every stage of your aquatic journey.

Our swimming lessons help children and adults develop essential swimming skills through structured and progressive learning. Participants can build confidence in the water while developing important techniques such as floating, kicking, breathing, body positioning, and stroke development. As swimmers progress, they can continue building their endurance, coordination, and overall swimming ability while working towards new goals.

For young children, our water playgroup provides a fun and engaging introduction to the aquatic environment. Through interactive activities, play, and positive experiences in the water, children can become more comfortable and confident while developing early water awareness and basic aquatic skills. These experiences can help create a positive relationship with the water from an early age and provide a strong foundation for future swimming development.

Our school swimming programs provide students with valuable opportunities to learn and practise essential swimming and water safety skills. Available for primary and high school students, these programs can support swimmers with different abilities, experience levels, and learning needs. Students can develop greater awareness of water safety, improve stroke technique, build endurance, and gain confidence in a structured learning environment.

Water safety is an important part of every swimmer’s development. Learning how to respond confidently and safely in and around water can provide valuable skills that children and adults can carry with them throughout life. Our programs encourage participants to develop an understanding of safe practices while building the physical skills and confidence needed to enjoy aquatic environments responsibly.

For swimmers who want to take their skills further, our squad programs provide opportunities to continue developing technique, fitness, endurance, and performance. Squad swimming can help participants challenge themselves, set personal goals, and experience the benefits of consistent training. With structured sessions and a focus on ongoing development, swimmers can continue progressing while enjoying the motivation and support of training alongside others.

Our aquatic facilities also provide opportunities for recreational swimming, allowing individuals and families to enjoy the water at their own pace. Whether you want to practise your skills, enjoy an active workout, spend quality time with family, or simply relax and have fun in the water, there are many ways to make swimming part of your regular lifestyle.

With a range of heated indoor and outdoor swimming facilities, including a heated 50m outdoor pool, a 25m outdoor pool, and the heated 25m Trevor Bishop Indoor Pool, the Clem Jones Centre provides a variety of spaces for learning, training, fitness, and recreation. Our aquatic facilities are designed to accommodate different activities and help swimmers enjoy the water throughout the year.

Swimming is also a fantastic way to stay active and support overall health and wellbeing. Regular swimming can help improve cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, flexibility, coordination, and endurance while providing a low-impact form of exercise suitable for many different ages and fitness levels.

Whether you’re taking your first steps in the pool, learning essential water safety skills, improving your stroke technique, building your fitness, or working towards your next swimming goal, the Clem Jones Centre is here to support you throughout your journey.

Take the next step, make a splash, and discover the confidence that comes from feeling comfortable and capable in the water. With supportive programs, experienced instructors, and quality aquatic facilities, the Clem Jones Centre can help you feel safer, stronger, and more confident—one swim at a time.
